New from FMCSA: Non-Insulin-Treated Diabetes Mellitus Form MCSA-5872

Non-Insulin-Treated Diabetes Mellitus

Recently, the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (DOT/FMCSA) announced the introduction of a new form that could have implications for commercial drivers with non-insulin-treated diabetes. The Non-Insulin-Treated Diabetes Mellitus Assessment Form, known as MCSA-5872, has been rolled out as an optional tool for medical examiners. This form is designed to collect additional information regarding the diagnosis, monitoring, and stability of drivers with this medical condition. The intention behind this change is to assist medical examiners in making informed decisions about whether a driver meets the physical qualification standards outlined in 49 CFR 391.41.
